A stunning late 19th-century albumen photograph by the renowned Maison Bonfils depicting the remarkably intricate, carved stucco and woodwork of the reception room (qa'a) in the historic Stambouli House in Damascus, Syria.
Condition: Excellent tonal contrast with rich sepia and warm brown tones.. Minor age. toning and very light silvering visible in darker areas of the margins.. Slight handling wear at the corners, consistent with age.. Clean overall with no significant tears, stains, or creases.. Verso details. Faint ghost image/offset printing visible across the center.. Light overall age. toning and minor handling wear.. Handwritten pencil stock number "(4494. 28)" on the left margin.. Clean edges with no major tears or paper loss.
