An exceptional late 19th-century ethnographic portrait by prominent photographer Pascal Sébah, depicting an Egyptian woman wearing a traditional *burko* (face veil) adorned with a brass cylinder *shesh* ornament on the nose bridge.
Condition: Excellent overall condition with deep, rich sepia tones and strong contrast.. Minor edge wear and slight corner rounding consistent with age.. Tiny surface abrading on the left side of her drape.. Unmounted, previously removed from a nineteenth. century travel album.. Verso details. Moderate age. toning and light staining consistent with age.. Handwritten pencil inscriptions reading "Egypt", "Arab woman", "40250", and "453".. Slight ghosting of the front image visible through the cardstock.. Minor corner wear and edge scuffing.
